Embassy Promotes Investment with Fiji Nationals
Friday 4th April 2008 the Embassy hosted a very successful investment outreach to Fiji nationals and supporters living in three US States of Maryland, Virginia, and in the District of Columbia.
Addressing Fiji nationals and supporters present were Mrs. Mereia Frances, Chief Executive Officer, Capital Markets Development Authority (CMDA), Mr. Bimal Singh, Senior Economist, Fiji Islands Revenue and Customs Authority (FIRCA) Mr. Anare Vocea, Manager Treasury, Fiji National Provident Fund (FNPF), and Ms Olita Talemaibua, Manager Research, FNPF.
Feedback on the evening was very positive: One of those present emailed the Embassy afterwards highlighting the interest in investing in Fiji that has been ignited as a result of the evening. He said:
“The event on Friday evening was good and created a lot of investment interest back home amongst our former nationals here. Hence the objective was achieved and we look forward to more capital inflows into Fiji”
Following the programme the Embassy distributed to Fiji nationals in the US in the Embassy’s databank a new “Business Investment Guide Fiji Islands: A Step By Step Guide To Establishing A Business In Fiji” from the Fiji Trade and Investment Bureau. The Embassy has received more information from the Capital Markets Development Authority on how Fiji nationals may invest in Fiji by trading in the South Pacific Stock Exchange to be provided to Fiji nationals.
